David Witcomb, Founding Member and Art Director
Dave graduated from Wrexham College of Art and Design in 1987. On the way up the corporate ladder, he designed national ad campaigns, corporate identities, magazines and more. In 1998 he struck out on his own, working with a variety of brands, including Sony, Ford and The National Geographic Channel. His work on the Future Fab team with Montgomery Research Europe led to a long association with Ms. Wood and Mr. Grimshaw, and in 2005, Dave became a founding member of Mazik Media. Dave has won numerous awards for design, including the Royal Mail’s Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod ‘First Day Covers’ Award, but it is his butterfly record, and sailing competitions such as the Fireball World Championships, that give him the most satisfaction. When not scouting photo shoots in the Grenadines, he’s out on his sailboat, engaged in some sporting activity or just running around the world to see what it has to offer. True to his roots, Dave believes our greatest challenge lies in trying to live a life of respect, prosperity and happiness. He cheers fellow sailor Ellen MacArthur – the youngest, fastest solo sailor to circumnavigate the globe – as “something special and extraordinary.” He lauds fellow entrepreneur Richard Branson, “for taking on the big corporations and winning.” Dave lives in Raynes Park, London, with his wife and young son … and he’s thinking about replacing his cat. Quite the Englishman, Dave is passionate about many things: sailing, art,
politics and sport, and worries deeply about the state of the world. His
early years were filled with sailing lessons and sports, including lacrosse
(which he wasn’t very good at) and swimming (for which he still
holds an unbroken record for the 50-meter butterfly). And yes, he does
play cricket quite well.
